As managing director of Iberia, Steven Zijl is responsible for the set-up of CA activities in Spain and Portugal. He is responsible for strategic planning and the creation of a substantial pipeline of student housing (PBSA) and build-to-rent (BTR) development projects during the next years and lead the development process until final handover to the CA operational management teams.
Prior to CA, since 2005 Steven has worked as a real estate entrepreneur in the Spanish and European real estate markets, specialized in deal sourcing, funding, investment and development management, research and marketing. During this period, through his private management company, Eurostate, Steven, worked closely with large institutional and private equity funds, HNWI and family offices, with a strong focus on the luxury hotel sector and residential markets. Motivated by the GFC in 2008 on one hand and future growth perspectives on the other hand, Steven has specialized over the last 10 years in the student housing sector and healthcare real estate market. Since 2018, Steven serves as an external board advisor in Spain for an EUR 3bn healthcare senior housing listed fund (REIT) based in Brussels.
Steven earned his MSc in Real Estate Investment and Development at Delft University of Technology and a BSc in Construction and Engineering at Saxion University of Sciences.
